It started with one visit
Carunnai Special School was founded by C. Ganesh after a visit to a camp for children with disabilities. Moved by what he saw, he started a small non-formal education centre. With his wife Revathy – a specialist in audiology and speech therapy – he built it into a complete support system for children with disabilities.
Today Carunnai cares for many students, including orphans. Personal education plans, therapy and practical training help each of them move forward – several students have completed secondary education through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and gone on to vocational training.
For children abandoned by their families, Carunnai is a refuge – a place of safety, security and happiness.
